The Dragon Bridge at a glance
The Dragon Bridge (Cau Rong) spans the Han River in Da Nang. It is 666 m long and 37.5 m wide, carries six lanes of traffic and opened to traffic on 29 March 2013. A golden dragon runs along the deck, and after dark the body is lit up in blue and green.
The bridge is a working road, but most visitors come for the show. The regular schedule is 9 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and on major public holidays. Fire comes first, then water. If you are also planning a day at the mountain resort, see our guide to Ba Na Hills tours from Da Nang and Hoi An, because an early return makes the evening show easy to reach.

Dragon Bridge show times
The regular schedule for the fire and water show.
| Day | Show | Order |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Thursday | Not part of the regular schedule | โ |
| Friday | 9 p.m. | Fire, then water |
| Saturday | 9 p.m. | Fire, then water |
| Sunday | 9 p.m. | Fire, then water |
| Major public holidays | 9 p.m. | Fire, then water |
This is the regular plan, not a promise that every show goes ahead. Bad weather or a special event can change it. For a specific public holiday, look for an announcement for that date instead of assuming a show.
The show lasts roughly 5 to 15 minutes in total (2 minutes of fire and 3 minutes of water in the shorter version). Plan for the longer figure, arrive early and treat anything shorter as a bonus. For most visitors, a Friday or Saturday evening is the easiest night to fit in, because a weekend plan leaves time for dinner before 9 p.m.

Where to watch and how to plan the evening
The bridge is 666 m long, so the view changes a lot with where you stand. From the river bank you can take in the whole dragon and the lights on the water. Closer to the deck you see the details, but you also stand nearer the traffic. Pick your spot before 9 p.m., and do not count on a covered or dry place near the dragon's head.
Arrive early
The show starts at 9 p.m. on show nights. Come well before, find a spot you like and let the crowd settle around you.
Bring rain gear in the wet months
On average, Da Nang gets the most rain in October (about 658 mm for the month), and September to December are all wet. A light rain jacket is easier than a cancelled evening.
Combine it with a day trip
The free shuttle bus back from Ba Na Hills leaves the resort at 4 p.m., and the drive from the mountain foot to the city takes roughly 40 to 50 minutes. A day in the hills and the 9 p.m. show can fit into one day.

The bridge by day
What you see when the show is off.
By day, the golden body arches over the road, and from a distance the bridge sits in the Da Nang skyline with mountains behind the city. If you only pass by in the afternoon, the daylight view is worth a short stop.
The wider city has more to fill a day before the show. See our overview of things to do in Da Nang for beaches, hills and city sights, and our guide to My Khe Beach if you want sea time in the afternoon.
Typhoons are a seasonal risk in central Vietnam, mainly from June to November, and heavy monsoon rain with floods and landslides is possible from October to December. Check the forecast on the day, and expect that an outdoor show can change at short notice.
