The Marble Mountains from Da Nang
The Marble Mountains, known locally as Ngu Hanh Son, are a group of limestone hills named after the five elements: metal, wood, water, fire and earth. The group has six peaks, because the fire hill, Hoa Son, consists of two parts, Duong Hoa Son and Am Hoa Son. The site lies about 8 km south-east of the city centre, at 81 Huyen Tran Cong Chua.
The best-known hill is Thuy Son, the water hill, where most visitors spend their time. It has caves, pagodas and viewpoints. This guide looks at the mountains from the Da Nang side. If you come from Hoi An, read the Marble Mountains from Hoi An guide. If you plan a bigger day out, the Ba Na Hills tours page shows the full-day option from the city.

What to see on Thuy Son
The hill has several named stops, and you can reach most of them on foot.
Huyen Khong cave
Huyen Khong is one of the named stops on Thuy Son and part of the cave and pagoda circuit. Do not plan the visit around a particular hour for photo light: weather and cloud decide.
Am Phu cave
Am Phu is a separate stop with its own ticket. The entry for adults is VND 20,000 and for pupils and students VND 7,000. Children under 6 are free.
Linh Ung pagoda and Vong Giang Dai
Linh Ung and Vong Giang Dai are two more named stops on the hill. Check that you have the right Linh Ung: the one in the Marble Mountains is not the Linh Ung at Ba Na Hills, and it is not the large Lady Buddha complex on the Son Tra Peninsula.
Temples and statues
The hill is an active religious site. Dress modestly, keep your voice down in shrines and ask before you photograph people who are praying.
Marble Mountains tickets and prices 2026
The entry, the cave ticket and the lift are separate.
| Ticket | Adult | Pupil or student | Children under 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thuy Son entry | VND 40,000 | VND 10,000 | Free |
| Am Phu cave | VND 20,000 | VND 7,000 | Free |
| Lift, one way | VND 15,000 | โ | Free |
| Lift, return | VND 30,000 | โ | Free |
The mountain ticket does not cover the lift: it needs an extra transport ticket. Entry is through gate 1 or gate 2. For most visitors, the entry ticket plus the return lift is the simplest plan, with the Am Phu ticket added if you want that cave. A lift does not mean that every cave and every path is easy to reach, so ask on site if you have limited mobility.
Getting there and when to go
A short trip from the city.
The hills lie about 8 km south-east of the centre. A taxi or a ride-hailing car is the simplest way from Da Nang. For the airport side of the trip, see the Da Nang Airport transfers page.
The site opens at 07:00 and closes at 17:00. Go early, when it is cooler. Steps and uneven surfaces are part of the visit, so wear shoes with a good grip and be careful after rain. In the wet months, from September to December, wet stone can be slippery.
Combine it with other Da Nang sights
The hills fit well into a half day.
